Advanced Healing
by Joseph Lisowski

Try as I may, my eyes
never comply. When reading,
they slither too close.
When closed, they spark open.
A cycle of situation –
What I want, I can’t get;
What I have, I ignore.

I do little, less each day.
A body obeys its own laws,
follows proclivities, rests
or not. But the soul,
ever wanting, never free,
seeks justice, a firm hand,
not the faults already confessed.
